Immunization Requirements

Under state law, all incoming 7th grade students need proof before starting school of a whooping cough booster shot (Tdap), and, starting this year, two doses of chickenpox vaccine. You can visit for more information on immunizations.

Parent Immunization Letter

Senate Bill 277 removed the personal belief exemption (PBE) from school immunization requirements.  As of January 1, 2016, OUESD cannot accept PBE forms for children entering preschool, kindergarten and 7th grade.

Safety First for all Children

The Oakley School District is committed to providing a safe environment for all children at school and at home.  We have had no reports of firearms on any of our campuses and much of the credit must go to you the parents.  One of the easiest ways to prevent an accidental shooting at home or school is to make sure all firearms are properly stored.   It is not only the logical, common sense thing to do, but it is now the law.  California law holds that an adult may be held criminally liable if a firearm is improperly stored.

Parent Information

At OUESD, we always strive to maintain as much communication as possible with our parents. This includes seeking your input, hearing your concerns and answering your questions. We encourage you to promptly contact any of our administrators or teachers in person, by telephone or by email, whenever you have a question, concern or suggestion.

When to Keep your Child Home from School

It is sometimes difficult to decide when and how long to keep an ill child home from school. A good rule of thumb is that if your child is suffering from any illness that prevents them from feeling well enough to participate in the usual activities and routines, they should not be sent to school.

For health and safety purposes, students should not be sent to school if they are showing signs of illness, such as fever, vomiting, diarrhea, nausea, coughing, sore throat, red or draining eyes, or untreated infected skin patches / rashes / bumps.  Students with a fever are to be kept home until they are fever free for at least 24 hours, without benefit from a fever – reducing agent.

Parents should notify the school office whenever their child is going to be absent from school due to illness or injury.

More information is available on the Health Services Page.
